My baby had the perfect birth: I delivered naturally at a hospital and I was so proud of myself and trusting my body. Unfortunately, I tore through an artery and passed out twice from blood loss. Breastfeeding had gone okay up to the point where I had to get a blood transfusion. When I was hooked up to a heart monitor, blood pressure cuff, IV, and the blood, I had no way to breastfeed my baby. So I pumped and she was bottle fed in the hospital. When I was finally able to feed her again, we had difficulties and a nurse slapped a nipple shield on and informed me that I had flat nipples. I accepted that my body could not function normally and doubted my ability. For the next 3 months, I tried unsuccessfully several times to wean my baby off the nipple shield. But it wasn’t until I found Wendy Rush on Facebook, that I found success. I called her and she came over the next day to help me. I’ve never met a more motivational person. She was just full of so much positive energy that I began again to trust my body to do what it was designed to do. She told me I had a “beautiful nipple” and that she didn’t know why the nurse at the hospital had given me the shield in the first place. After our visit, it took me a few days to finally be shield free. Every night, I texted Wendy my success and frustration. She was always so positive and it was her knowledge and belief in me that created this new bond I have with my baby. My sweet girl and I are now equipment free when it comes to her eating and I feel so amazing and confident in myself. Wendy gave up so much time so that I would have success. I am so glad she was the person I finally asked to help me. She was perfect for helping me through this process. Anyone who needs any help or support about breastfeeding would benefit from Wendy’s contagious positive...

“Wendy was one of the doulas that my wife and I had at our birth of our first daughter. Wendy was so amazing to have there at the birth. She was fun to have there and talk with while labor progressed. When labor got more intense, she was a strong support not only to my wife, but to myself as well. Wendy was able to take over counter pressure when I couldn’t, and she was able to get drinks and snacks as they were needed. She is so knowledgeable in the skills and techniques that a doula should have! I would not hesitate to hire Wendy again. She is an amazing woman, mother, and doula!” -Brad & Melody – Pleasant Grove, UT...

“I absolutely loved having Wendy as my doula. She has initiative and is very loving and supportive. She has a lot of knowledge and knows what to do with it. Her passion for childbirth and education are absolutely infectious. She actually introduced me to my paradigm of intuitive and natural birthing and I’m so grateful she did. She will always speak up for the truth and is confident and experienced. She brings so much to every birth she attends and is steady as a rock. You won’t regret inviting her to be a part of your birth experience!” -Kayleigh, American Fork,...

I met Wendy while we where at a get together for pregnant mommas. When I met her, I knew right away that she was my doula.  After going over my birth plan with her,  I realized that I wanted a home birth!   But, because I was 36 weeks pregnant,  that didn’t leave us much time, so we got to planning right away.   A couple of weeks later, she met with us to go over the details of the birth plan and outlined what to expect the day of the birth.  By the time she left, my husband and I felt as ready as ever and we were very excited about the birth of our baby girl. The birth day had arrived and knew at that moment having Wendy as my doula was the best decision I had ever made. She showed everyone how to do the shoulder presses and the hip presses and different ways to assist with the surges. She made everyone that wanted to be involved, a big part in the birth. I was in labor for 26 hours and the last 10 hours where the hardest. She was there every step of the way singing my birth song with me, reminding me to relax, saying words of encouragement and making sure I was drinking plenty of fluids.  My labor was very very hard, the baby was military position (face first) and my hymen never broke, this led to 3 hours of hard labor. In the end, because it didn’t go exactly like I had “expected,” I was having a lot of doubts and feeling very unsure of the experience. On the 3rd day, Wendy came for a postpartum visit to see how things where going. I had been struggling with breastfeeding and couldn’t get our little one to latch on. She showed us several different feeding positions until we found the perfect one and stayed until we had it down and could do it ourselves. While she was there she shared with me her perspective of the birth.  She told me how amazing I was and how strong I was. Her re-telling of the experience brought a very beautiful and positive change in my perception of...

“I was SO fortunate to have Wendy Rush attend the birth of my son as a doula and to care for me postpartum after the births of both my children. She was so compassionate and encouraging! Shortly after my little boy was born, Wendy taught me how to breastfeed. She showed me the difference between a good latch and an ineffective latch, demonstrated different positions for nursing, and explained what I might experience the next few days when my milk came in. This was so helpful and really normalized what can be a confusing, challenging experience. Wendy has a way of explaining information that made me feel completely supported and validated. She is knowledgeable and empathetic, and will make you laugh even when you’re feeling overwhelmed. Her confidence in me made me feel confident in myself as I went forward with this new adventure. I always say that everyone deserves “a Wendy” right after they’ve had a baby!” -Rachel, Springville UT Photo credit: Carolina Lindsay...
